The tire rope swing (an object from an earlier time) being not only in the background, but also appearing through the mist, suggests strong memories of childhood, joy, solitude, or contemplative moments. The composition is fairly strong and shows the viewer this warm fall scene from the past contrasted against the cold stark realities of the present.
