The Janusz Korszak
memorial honors the Polish educator who did not want to abandon
his Jewish students and followed them to Treblinka Nazi camp,
where they all were executed. “Take sides,” Elie Wiesel has
said. “Take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the
victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.”
(Quoted in Patterson, Eternal Treblinka, 137). – Sr.
Lucille C. Thibodeau, pm, reminds us about this in her article,
“All Creation Groans” published in this edition of the
Rivier Academic Journal.
